SESSION SUMMARY
Summary
The group gathered in the late afternoon for Reubol’s regular Sunday dinner and poker game. Vale arrived first at Reubol’s crowded curiosity shop, followed by the impeccably punctual Zolaal. Sylyana then helped a bruised, bloodied and paint-stained Yanto through the door after his confrontation with a counterfeiter. Reubol’s mother immediately treated Yanto’s wounds before sending everyone upstairs, where Flink had prepared the rooftop table despite the recent storm leaving his clothes and sleeping space damp.
Over dinner, Yanto explained that he had investigated forged Golden Ledger debt tokens, confronted the counterfeiter Nestor in the Chroma Tint paint shop, and recovered a specialist forgery toolkit. Vale offered to introduce him to Orun at the Forge Ascendancy. Flink then told the group that he had seen suspicious figures and lights near an entrance to the catacombs. The people who robbed one of his deliveries had claimed that someone operating from the catacombs had ordered the theft. Zolaal agreed to escort him through the restricted tunnels, with Sylyana volunteering to join them. During the meal, Zolaal also gifted Sylyana a tethered talisman shaped like her spirit companion, Thule.
After a night’s rest, the party split into two groups. Vale, Yanto and Reubol visited Orun, who immediately recognised the forgery equipment as property stolen from the Forge Ascendancy roughly three weeks earlier. Yanto received one handful of gold as a finder’s reward. Orun then asked the group to inspect a riverside warehouse whose five-year-old floorboards were already creaking, rotting and failing despite Forge workmanship that should have lasted at least a decade.
Meanwhile, Flink, Sylyana and Zolaal descended into the catacombs beneath the temple. They found fresh footprints in the dust, inspected unfamiliar rune-powered blue lamps, passed a statue of Yama—the Final Judge of Passage—and discovered a recent cave-in. Beyond a large door they heard several voices arguing. After quietly opening it, they caught part of a dispute between nobles, including the declaration that one speaker’s family had held a claim there for generations.
At the warehouse, Vale, Yanto and Reubol investigated the drainage grates and failing floor. The boards concealed moisture and a strange sucking sound beneath them. When Reubol tried to prise one loose, a geyser exploded through the floor and formed into a Water Elemental. The creature warped the surrounding environment into a hot, humid zone and struck all three investigators with a burst of direct magical damage. At the same time, the group heard the skittering and snapping of many small creatures beneath the warehouse. The session ended with both teams on the edge of confrontation.
